Group Size

A BCI (Battery Council International) group size is a standardized system that categorizes car and truck batteries by their physical dimensions, terminal configurations, and placement, ensuring compatibility between batteries and vehicles. Different group numbers, such as 24 or 31, correspond to specific sizes and features, with the correct size determined by checking the vehicle's owner's manual or the existing battery. Powersports batteries use a different designation, often a YTX, YTZ, or BTX prefix followed by numbers, which denotes the physical size, capacity (Amp Hours or AH), and type (e.g., lead-acid or lithium).
